Next to Eire Square in Galway is the Tourist Information (TI) Centre. Across the street from the TI is where the tour busses gather daily to cart tourists throughout the countryside. Linda liked the Healy Bus brochure for Connemara & Kylemore Abbey Tour. The busses leave around 10:00 AM and return each day around 5:00. If you are susceptible to car sickness as I am, take something well in advance of getting on the bus. The roads are extremely narrow and winding. The busses all bob and weave their way along ancient sheep/cow paths turned into lanes. By the end of the day, I was getting pretty green. |

Above left - There is an old John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara movie called the Quiet Man. The movie was filmed in the Connemara region. The building is a replica of the Quiet Man cottage. Above Right - A head someone lovingly added a cigarette to. Right - From Galway to Maam Cross, the bus had to pass hundreds of cyclists who were riding for a heart association fund raiser. Below - Newsflash! There are sheep all over Ireland. |

Above Left - Two close friends talking by the lake shore. Above Right - Wild roses adorn the Abby walls. Left - These beautiful bright yellow flowers are present on roadsides through much of the tour. The guide told us that they bloom most of the year.

Above - Reflections on the lake at Kylemore Abbey - I would love to spend time out on the lake in these boats just floating around. Right - Never miss an opportunity to show another Irish RV. Below Left - The one and only Irish Fjord. Lots of Oysters and other creatures are raised in salt water aquiculture farms. Here some guys are harvesting their crop. Below Right - The Fjord is beautiful. |
|
Below left - I forget the real name of these falls. The tour guide kept calling them Viagra Falls. Apparently there is a local custom whereby newlyweds on their way from church to reception stop and get pictures taken at these falls. Below Right - All of the game that might be found in the lake is owned by the landowners bordering the lake. The little hut is where the private game warden hides out to catch poachers. |
