| Port O'Connor, Texas
is located on the Texas gulf coast south east of Victoria. It is a little town at
the end of the highway. It has a nice park facing east. The town
is very flat. We rode our bicycles around town. We have a bicycle trailer to
pull the dogs around with. Pulling dogs in bicycle trailers must be unusual.
We got lots of stares from folks as we rode by. Many of Port O'Connor's houses are built on stilts. Hurricane Claudette made land fall right around here last year. That may explain why there is so much construction going on. There is quite a lot of shipping traffic going by Port O'Connor. We came to Port O'Connor on the way to Matagorda Island State Park. We stayed in a private campground called The Two RV Park. We also visited Port Lavaca, Texas. |

Up the highway from Port O'Connor is Seadrift. Seadrift has a number of good restaurants. One of the ones that Linda had eaten at a number of times is Barkett's Restaurant on State Highway 185. |

We ate lunch in Port O'Connor at Clark's restaurant. It is just off Maple street which runs parallel to the Intercoastal Waterway. This is the same street that the ferry to Matagorda Island is. |
