Fulton Mansion State Historic Site

The Fulton Mansion State Historic Site is a must see. You can find it in Fulton. There are signs directing travelers to the mansion on State Highway 35. We visited the mansion on Saturday hoping to be able to get inside. It turns out, you have to show up at a time that a tour starts. They start on the hour from 9:00 AM through 3:00 PM except for 12:00 noon. We thought that we could get in at any time based on what we read on the state's web site. Once you walk through the mansion, you will understand why folks aren't given the opportunity to just wander around the mansion unescorted.

By the way, the folks that did the tour made it fun. I really enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide was even dressed in period clothing.

Below and left is a view of the inland waterway from the mansion's front porch. The remaining pictures were taken inside the mansion. Flashes are not allowed inside the mansion. All of the interior pictures were taken hand held with existing lighting. Some of the pictures were a bit blurry so I had to electronically alter them. However, my meager technology can't fix everything.

Inside the mansion is a room that has displays on how the mansion was originally built and subsequently restored. The following pictures are from these displays. On the right is picture taken of the mansion in the 19th century.
