Colorado Landing RV Park, La Grange, Texas
February 1 through February 7, 2004
|Colorado Landing RV
Park is in La Grange, Texas. La Grange is located on the Colorado River where US
Highway 77 crosses the River. The town is in the Prairies and Lakes region of
Texas. While in La Grange, we also visited Monument Hill and
Kreische Brewery State Historic Sites.
You can find information on La Grange at the La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce. Information on Schulenburg, a near by town, can be found at the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce. We were in the area to visit Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery State Historic Sites.
US Highway 77, which runs through La Grange, is a major North/South highway through Texas. It starts in Brownsville and runs northward through "The Valley" (Harlingen), by Corpus Christi, Victoria, La Grange, to where it joins up with Interstate 35 in Waco. The "Winter Texans" use US 77 to avoid the worst parts of Interstate 35 and Interstate 37.
This time of year, parks like this one are along the "Winter Texan" northerly migration trail. Every evening a new group of Winter Texans park their trailers in the park and leave the following morning.
The park facilities are quite good. They have showers, laundry, kitchen, telephones (with modem hookup). There is lots of space. I don't feel like we are all on top of each other like I have in other private parks. There park is on the river. They have trails along the river. See the pictures below.
The park is on the river. The river trail is very relaxing.
