| Bastrop State Park is located near Bastrop,
Texas. Bastrop is in Bastrop County Texas which is
near Austin, Texas. The Texas
State Parks web site has information
and a map of the park.
We were in Bastrop State Park in February 2003.
We were here last week as well. Our trailer will be here for all of November. We will be driving up on Friday nights and heading back Sunday afternoons. Thanksgiving weekend will be a bit different. We will be arriving on Wednesday evening. I had forgotten how much I liked the trails in this park. Most of the trails I've been on in this park are easy to walk on because they are sandy with a layer of pine needle litter on top. Nice and soft. The dogs really like walking the trails with me. Part of this is from the wild animal scents. Another part is from the softness on the dog's pads. The trails are also well marked with signs. They also have clear maps posted in some of the more important trail intersections. An example is below. The topographical map below shows where I found the stone ruins and the radio tower. The park maps available on the internet don't have as much detail (include all of the trails) as the maps on the signs (shown below). |
