After flying into Anchorage and spending the night, we drove up to Talkeetna to stay in the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.
On the way from Talkeetna back to Anchorage, we stopped off at the Alaska Museum of Transport & Industry.
Return to Larry and Linda Pearson
Linda put together a very cool Alaskan Vacation which we took in June of 2006.
I'm still working on the Alaska Trip pictures - will continue to update this page over the next few weeks.
One evening after work, we flew from our home in San Antonio through Dallas to Seattle. We stayed overnight in Seattle. In the morning, we got up and caught a flight to Bellingham, Washington. In Bellingham, we took a taxi from the airport to the Alaska State Ferry Terminal.
We got on the good ferry Columbia in Bellingham. We rode the Alaska State Ferry from Bellingham through the inside passage to Juneau. The ferry stopped in Ketchikan, Wrangell, and Petersburg. The ferry took almost three days.
At the Juneau Ferry Terminal, we caught a taxi to the Juneau Airport. From Juneau, we flew to Fairbanks by way of Yakutat, Cordova, and Anchorage. In Fairbanks, we stayed overnight in a hotel. In the morning we took the Hotel Shuttle to the Fairbanks Alaska Railroad Depot.
We rode the Denali Star Train from Fairbanks to the Denali Train Depot.
From the Denali National Park entrance, we rode a bus to the Denali Back Country Lodge in Kantishna (deep inside Denali Park). We stayed over in the Lodge four nights.
Instead of taking the bus back from the Lodge to the park entrance, we flew on a Kantishna Air Taxi plane from the Lodge to the park entrance. Back at the park entrance, where the train depot is, we got back on the train. This time we were bound for Anchorage.
Back on the Denali Star Train, we rode all the way to Anchorage in comfort. Arriving in Anchorage in the evening, we got a taxi to the airport. We caught the red-eye to Los Angeles. In LA, we hung out for hours waiting for our plane back to San Antonio.
